- Course Objectives (Intermediate Level with Foundational Information):
- Differentiate key components of executive function and emotional regulation within developmental, sensory, and cognitive frameworks as they relate to participation and performance in daily occupations.
- Analyze how contextual factors—including environment, routines, relationships, and occupational demands—support or hinder the development of executive function skills in children and adolescents.
- Integrate strategies from evidence-based models (e.g., Level UP! approaches, The Executive Function Institute Framework, and neuro-developmental strategies) to promote regulation, attention, and goal-directed behavior across home, school, and clinic settings.
- Apply tools for assessment, observation, and intervention planning to align executive function goals with occupation-based and educational outcomes.
- Design collaborative, interprofessional intervention plans that empower teams (OT, PT, SLP, educators, and caregivers) to enhance consistency and carryover across environments.
- Evaluate the impact of executive function interventions through case-based reflection, fidelity checklists, and measurable outcomes linked to participation and engagement.
